Rachael Stern

Rachael Stern.

Born and raised in sunny Southern California, after her Undergraduate career in Lincoln, Nebraska, Rachael earned her Masters in Social Work from the Silver School of Social Work at New York University, where she held dual specializations in clinical social work and non- profit management and social policy.

Rachael has spent the bulk of her career in organizations that move the United States towards “Equality and Justice For All.” Rachael started teaching about racism and heterosexism in high school and never looked back. From Lambda Legal to The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and direct political work, Rachael has joined with the nation’s top LGBTQ activists to create change.

Whether working one on one with a client or on large policy agendas, Rachael believes that to truly address any one thing, you must see the entire picture. As a dreamer, Rachael has made it her life’s work to master the tools that help turn dreams into reality. From New Media to training the trainer, to burnout prevention and message mastery, Rachael believes we must address these issues from top down and bottom up.

Rachael holds expertise in both Eating Disorders and LGBTQ issues. After functioning as the New York State Coordinator for the National Eating Disorder Association’s STAR program, Rachael started the Eating Disorder Activist Network which serves to provide resources, unite community, create collaborative conversation and facilitate training for all those affected by Eating Disorders, Disordered Eating, and Body Image related issues. Rachael spent the years directly following her masters degree creating and
building an LGBTQ Wellness Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Currently, Rachael is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, a non-profit and new media strategist and sees clients in private practice and at the Body Image Therapy Center in Maryland.
