Christel Parker (Asst. Editor)

Christel Parker LMFT is assistant editor and contributor on the We Are The Real Deal blog. She spends the majority of her professional time as a NYC-based psychotherapist and eating disorder treatment specialist, as well as consulting for the Eating Disorders Resource Center in New York City. Christel’s professional experience has ranged from outpatient care and partial hospital programs to intensive in-home services and acute inpatient work.

Evidence based interventions are at the core of Christel’s treatment approach, but she also brings her own background to clinical care. Being trained in family work, adolescent health, as well as a passion for therapeutic equine-assisted activities makes her practice style richer. A focus on mindfulness skill development and with a strong ability to motivate those in the recovery practice adds depth to Christel’s therapeutic efficacy and interests.

Christel is very committed to education and awareness efforts that contribute to the prevention of Eating Disorders, and is always looking to deepen and broaden her knowledge of the field.
