This is #25 of 108 Ways to Livin the Moment. Let’s take back our lives one beautiful, funny, and delicious moment at a time.

#25 of 108: Take it Black

This past weekend, I was in glorious Colorado to teach at the Mountain Pose Symposium (amazing event for medical professionals) and King Yoga (amazing studio for yoga lovers).

I decided to take a yoga class. It was early and I needed coffee before the teacher arrived.

I asked the lady on the yoga mat next to me if she wanted a cup.

“Oh that would be wonderful,” she replied.

I take my coffee black, so I rudely didn’t ask how she wanted it.

As I was walking away, she uttered, “Would you mind making it half-skinny, half one percent…and 3/4 decafe.”

It was 6:30am.

“Sorry I didn’t catch that,” I told her.

She reiterated, “Half-skinny, half one percent…3/4 decafe. Thank you soooo much.”

“I don’t think I can remember that but I’ll try.”

“Just please remember 3/4 decafe…caffeine makes my eyes swell shut.”

The great Osho wrote that 1% of the world are geniuses, and 1% of the world are idiots. The other 98% of the world is mired in mediocrity, trying to be many things at once.

He goes on to say that it is better to be an idiot than to be mediocre. Because idiots are simpler and simpler is healthier.

On that note, does coffee need to be so complicated?

Nowadays, we have too many choices in every aspect of life, and “too many” leads to mediocrity.

So before you order your next “half-skinny, half-one percent extra hot split quad shot (two shots decaf, two shots regular) latte with whip,” remember that how you do anything is how you do everything.

Or, as stated in this all-time classic line from the movie Airplane.

I’m hard at work in putting together my little plan on how to save the world.

The Manifesto: Restore value to the little moments in your day

–When enjoying the morning…instead of reaching for the phone, reach for your kid.

–When taking in a beautiful summer night…instead of a video, take a breath.

–When eating dinner… instead of TV, how about a some good ol fashioned conversation.

Are you feelin it? I struggle with it too. So let’s push each other! We can do better…
