Celebrate Inner Beauty Through Arts
It happens once a year…
This year in New York City … for the first time, featuring live spoken word poetry by the brilliant Caroline Rothstein…
Sponsored by Veritas Collaborative, “INSIDE OUT!” is an informal after-work cocktail party in the newly opened Linen Hall bar in the Union Square area of New York City. The event supports NORMAL and its mission of educating about eating disorders, body image and self-esteem in multi-ethnic, economically diverse communities.
We proudly bring an array of arts and mindfulness programs into public, private and at-risk schools
to teach kids of all ages the importance of healthy coping.
We believe that it is important to teach practical, innovative ways to manage stress to students and families and for six years we have done just that.
In addition, last year our nonprofit distributed free educational films and curricula (ED 101) featuring performances by Broadway and American Idol stars to more than 4,000 individuals and schools; we launched an arts-based body image website with more than 40 contributing writers (We Are The Real Deal); hosted free mindfulness workshops for patients in recovery from eating disorders; upgraded our online web resources; and brought high quality live programs and seminars to dozens of high schools and universities nationwide.
Most notably, in 2011, NORMAL initiated a legacy of collaboration with more than 20 other nonprofit organizations by sending 200 “ED 101” DVD program kits at no cost!
Since its inception, we have served over 67,000 individuals and families worldwide. All this from a tiny nonprofit that is run out of one woman’s living room!! Imagine what we can do with more resources, Corporate Sponsorships and support!!
You Can Help!
Proceeds from this year’s “INSIDE OUT!” will help NORMAL continue delivering high quality programs to our sister nonprofit organizations, complete a documentary film project with the Binge Eating Disorder Association (“Beneath the Floorboards”), develop Spanish translations for our curricula, ED 101 and SPEAKING OUT ABOUT ED films and bring a live tour of NORMAL THE MUSICAL to the New York City area in 2013.
You can help by attending this year’s fundraiser — clips from 2010 INSIDE OUT, hosted by Kirsten Haglund (Miss America 2008) is here:
This elegant, fun and artsy event is inspiring and an amazing way to get involved with our cause.
Wednesday evening, May 9th at 6:30pm
at Linen Hall in New York City’s Union Square area
101 3rd Ave at 6:30pm

Can’t attend? Donate here — even $5.00 helps us bring our programs to more schools and universities in at-risk, private and public communities alike. $25.00 provides the ED 101 program and curriculum to one school. $50.00 covers the cost of a free meditation and mindfulness workshop for patients. $100.00 covers the cost of a seminar that educates graduating social work candidates about the latest research related to eating disorders. $250.00 provides a “Healthy Selfitude” seminar for grade school students. $500.00 will cover the cost of sound editing on our recent documentary educational tool about bullying due to weight bias.
