I think it is so sad that magazines feel they need to retouch as much as they do. I think it was Kate Winslet who successfully sued a British mag for retouching her so much and making her look much thinner than she actually is, saying that she wasn’t trying to pretend to be something she’s not. You go girl!
Thanks for sharing, Roni. This is SICK, pure and simple, when you see it all laid out as such. Incredible what we’re fooled to see.
You cpmloeted certain good points there. I did a search on the matter and found a good number of folks will go along with with your blog.
Gotta agree with Lissa. There’s just nothing healthy about these practices.
I think this stuff needs to be exposed as much as possible. I may understand that these gorgeous women with perfect bodies don’t really look like that, but a 15 year old might not. If gorgeous and perfect is still not good enough, what chance does an adolescent girl have?
Personally, I think airbrushing should be illegal, but short of that, it should constantly be pointed out, and magazines should be forced to defend themselves. I like that that’s happening, I just don’t think a wide enough audience sees it.
And what’s saddest of all is the Dove retouching!
