Lessons Learned From Zach Sobiech
As you know, I love sharing stories of people who have impacted my journey. I was saddened to find out that a beautiful soul, Zach Sobiech, lost his battle to cancer earlier this week. Zach was only 18 years old when he died but in his short time he embraced life to the fullest. His passion for life, love of others, and contagious joy touched my heart as well as those of many others. His legacy will live on. As Zach said in his documentary,"It's really simple, actually, just try to make people happy." Zach truly celebrated his life. I'm so ...
Dress Shopping is an Exercise in Loving My Body
A few years ago I was shopping at a cute, trendy boutique with some friends. As we were rifling through the racks I spotted a sweet red dress, a halter that was short and flowy. As I picked it up my eyes went to the top of the dress, the part where there were two triangles cut out where the breasts should be. I sort of chuckled, looked down at my own, uh “ample” chest and put the dress back knowing that there was no way my girls were going to fit, or stay put, in that dress. At the ...
Love Limbs Limitations
Love Your Limbs Limitations Merriam-webster.com defines limb as “the expanded portion of an organ or structure” and here we will look at how the media structure teaches us that our Limbs have the capacity to be “perfect”. Media teaches us what is “normal” based on limitless possibilities created by technology and digital graphics that mask the truth of the human body. We would like to suggest to you that loving your limbs limitations create limitless possibilities. We would like to challenge you to think of the ways that you may limit yourselves by trying to force your body to fit (be pressured, oppressed) ...

In this video, Caroline responds to a viewers question about how one accepts one's SELF, as opposed to their physical body, and how to deal with the ebb & flow of recovery. About BODY EMPOWERMENT: Founded in 2008, "Body Empowerment" is hosted and produced by NYC-based writer, performer, and eating disorder recovery advocate Caroline Rothstein. In an effort to promote eating disorder awareness, prevention, and recovery, as well as promote positive body image worldwide, ...
Finding Body Image Freedom
Reprinted from my book, Healthy Selfitude Most of us have little things we hold onto that help us feel confident or sexy, more worthy or desirable. For me, I was absolutely “addicted” to wearing toenail polish. Silly as it may sound, I actually had developed a kind of irrational co-dependency on fancifully colored toenails. So in an effort to explore this, I embarked on an experiment (from a place of genuine curiosity). I tried to do something that -- at the time -- would have been unthinkable. To teach a yoga class (where people stare at your FEET) without polish on my ...
